CLREP in the News Law Day 2011 MSBA Bar Bulletin, June 2011 According to AAA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car crashes are the leading cause of death of people ages 3-34. To underscore the importance of the “Rules of the Road,” the MSBA Public Awareness Committee (PAC), in partnership with the Citizenship Law-Related Education Program (CLREP), hosted more than 200 students and teachers from all over the state for the 2011 Law Day Conference on Tuesday, June 17, 2011, at the Sheppard Pratt Conference Center in Baltimore. Continue reading...At State Finals, Mock Trial Ponders Legacy MSBA Bar Bulletin, May 2011 Park High School of Baltimore County defeated Richard Montgomery High School in MSBA’s Mock Trial championship match on April 15 to win the school’s second state title. Each year teams of teenagers, under the guidance of attorney coaches and teachers, compete at local courthouses over several weeks and then two schools finish the season with a final match at the Robert C. Murphy Court of Appeals building in Annapolis. For 28 years, thousands of Maryland high school students, teachers, volunteer attorneys and volunteer judges have participated in the annual entertaining and educational mock trial competition, learning firsthand about our legal system in courtrooms across the state. MSBA’s public service program gives high school students valuable insight into the workings of our justice system, enabling them to better function as responsible citizens in society.
